6+ unusual methods to get more blog visitors without big social media following

I’ve seen tons of questions on how to grow blog traffic. That’s why I’ve decided to share my methods all of you can start using as soon as today! This post includes ideas that’ll work for new blogs as well, without any kind of social media following or email list.

It’s not an easy task and none of the methods I use are quick or automated. All of them request your full attention and interest in the job you’re doing. So unless blogging really is your passion and you’re ready to make a business out of it, this post won’t be for you. But if you’re on board with all that, let’s check out the methods that let me grow blog traffic for my own blog (the one you’re currently reading!).

7 unusual methods to grow blog traffic without big social media following

First, I’ll share two of my favorite and most successful methods that might be a bit more popular than the rest of them. Scroll down for more!

IDEA #1: Grow blog traffic with Pinterest

Okay, this one might come as no surprise but I had to mention it because I LOVE Pinterest and I’m saying it every single day. When I got to Pinterest in my first year of blogging, it was the first time when I actually believed that my blog CAN drive any traffic at all. Up till that, I had 20 visitors per day, on average. As soon as I started using Pinterest for my blog growth, I’ve rarely been under 100 visitors per day.

Pinterest will work the best for you if you’re in one of the following niches:

  • Parenting
  • Online business
  • Crafts
  • Blogging
  • Food
  • Fashion
  • Traveling

Although Pinterest is welcoming any kind of pins, these are the niches that are the most popular there.

I’ve described all of my Pinterest strategies over here.Β In short, it’s the following:
– Great blog content
– Vertical pin designs (good designs!)
– Group boards

If you’re into online business or blogging, get a bunch of group boards to join:

How much time does Pinterest take?

Usually, it’s around 15 mins per day. I schedule my pins with Tailwind* but I also enjoy manual pinning so I usually spend some time to pin other blogger content daily. With Tailwind scheduling only, it would take around half an hour per week. Definitely a good time investment!

IDEA #2: Grow blog traffic with Facebook groups

My second favorite is Facebook groups! It still is a very growing trend and in the recent years, this trend has taken a huge leap helping tons of online entrepreneurs to build their tribe, find their perfect clients and really establish their online businesses. Therefore, it’s also an amazing way to get more blog visitors!

How much time do Facebook groups take?

This is one of the most time-consuming ways to drive traffic but also very valuable. I usually spend around half an hour up till an hour per day to comment in Facebook groups. Very often I get sunk in the process and enjoy doing it so much that it turns into hours… But usually, I don’t have as much time on my hands, unfortunately.

Joining a few relevant Facebook groups really can make a difference. Here’s more on what to do in them.

IDEA #3: Grow blog traffic with Twitter

Yes, I still use Twitter! And I love Twitter because for me it’s proven to be one of the easiest ways to actually build great connections. Through the years, I’ve met many amazing people on the platform. When you keep seeing what someone is doing, what they’re sharing and what are their interests, you can easily get sunk into it and start feeling like you know the person. Once you start liking or commenting tweets you definitely get noticed on the other side and, as silly as it might sound, that’s how Twitter friendships are made!

Don’t share only your blog posts, tho. Share your inspirations and struggles. Share your jokes, photos, plans. Consider your Twitter audience as your shy friend who’s always there to listen but might not always give you the answer. That friend’s still there, you know! Seeing, reading, following and growing into this online friendship. Which means only one thing – an additional reader interested in your blog posts, an additional client interested in your product!

IDEA #4: Grow blog traffic with Reddit

Hmmm… Reddit… My love-hate relationship! To be honest, I’m still not so sure I get why people like this platform so much. But here’s another thing – I’ve explored that Reddit is the place where I can reach out to my audience that’s not hanging out elsewhere and there are TONS of them!!!

Reddit has this specific system of subreddits – tailored to each specific topic. Whatever is on your mind – most likely, there’s a subreddit for that. Even the weirdest ones…

Commenting and sharing your experience, providing your samples and blog posts is a great way to get more blog visitors! Make sure to read each subreddit rules before getting started.

IDEA #5: Grow blog traffic with StumbleUpon

This one is pretty simple: you go on StumbleUpon, choose various topics you’re interested and Stumble. This platform shows you different pages related to your topic. Whether it’s blog article, website, video or anything else – you can either like or dislike it, Stumble further & see the next one, or add to your collections.

The magic behind StumbleUpon is interaction. You submit your own blog posts, videos, websites to StumbleUpon which means that they might show up on the relevant feed for others.

There’s a complicated algorithm behind it so the best bet is to submit useful & interesting content AND stumble other pages, including liking and adding to your collections.

I haven’t found out about the magic strategy that’d get tons of likes to my posts always but I see several views from StumbleUpon whenever I submit an article and even more so – when I stumble myself. I do believe that you can find your magic sweet spot with aΒ  bit of experimenting!

IDEA #6: Grow blog traffic with Quora

Let me start with a disclaimer – Quora is great for those who have some spare time and who really are into research and strategical thinking. Because that’s the way to grow your blog with this platform! is great for those who have some spare time and who really are into research and strategical thinking. Because that’s the way to grow your blog with this platform!

Quora is a Question & Answer platform where anyone can ask or answer ANY questions in the world. Really. You can search for questions in different topics. Those include blogging, traveling, freelancing, writing, job search or literally anything else.

Therefore, you have an amazing option to be useful to others! Answer their questions, including your blog posts and drive people to your articles. Besides that, the more high-quality answers you give, the more upvotes you might get. And more upvotes will show you as an expert in the field and drive people to your profile. Oh, also, you can include your website in your profile so whoever sees it can just check it out. What else could one wish for?

IDEA #7: Grow blog traffic Tailwind Tribes

Tailwind is an amazing Pinterest scheduling tool that’s not only very convenient in its user interface but also an amazing asset for your business with Tailwind Tribes!

Tailwind Tribes work in a very similar manner as previously mentioned group boards do – you join a tribe where there are other pinners in your field, you all share your blog posts and reach out to a bigger audience. WHICH MEANS MORE TRAFFIC. Yay!

As I already stated, none of these methods to grow blog traffic is fast or easy. They all request much of your time investment, some strategy. But it’s absolutely worth a shot if you’re up for growing your blog! Have you tried any of these? Which one is your fav?

I just started blogging about 10 days ago. I read everything I can get my hands on! I have a very narrow niche. I put AdSense on the website and I have already made 0.21 cents !!!! I really want to decrease my hours on my regular job. I know I can do this. I created a Pinterest page as well.
